Some resources I created for literary translators.

The Literary Translation Database Extraordinaire is a collaborative resource I created for translators to share information on where to get published, translation residencies, opportunities, funding, etc.

Anyone can add to it, this is a resource for the whole literary translation community & one I hope will continue to be useful for many years to come.

“Ways In”: how translators can find opportunities to showcase work in literary journals & magazines, work with agents, take advantage of various resources and find paid opportunities.

Becoming a literary translator (and staying active as one) is not just about endlessly doing unpaid work and pitching to publishers in the hope of getting to translate a book you love.

There are many more ways into the profession - and I put together a presentation for Bristol Translates in 2022, talking about exactly this!

Unfortunately it wasn't recorded, but I have made the PDF of the presentation "Ways In" (complete with useful hyperlinks) available for download, for a small contribution of £5.

I will also make it available for free to anyone - no questions asked, please email me: charlie@cmctranslations.com
